Intro to “Sustainability”

I hear they begin AA meetings with “Hi, I’m Joe Smith and I’m an alcoholic.”  Well, I’m Stu Rose and I’ve never blogged before.  But I understand it’s a great way to share successes and problems and learnings – to be helpful to others, and to get useful feedback that may help me solve problems you’ve already solved.

 My life focus is “Sustainability.”  I’ve built a cluster of “Net Zero” totally sustainable houses, to see how the theory works in reality, and to see how they’d fair in the marketplace against traditional homes, so the numbers could climb to make a difference.  (They’re described at  To spread the word further, I just completed a book, “Sustainability,” via  As the development process takes time, I did a lot of research exploring what I had not included in the first project, and what evolved went way past anything I’d ever considered being part of “sustainability.”  It’s an amazing picture of what I see coming … soon.

I’ll try to post thoughts daily – sharing problems and successes – and I invite you to share whatever candid reactions and thoughts you care to offer.
